Does it work on a photo of a person?

Not really — this is built for places, not portraits. For people, use one of the other Quick AI effects; time-lapse is for views, skies, and scenery.

Is the motion real or generated?

Generated. Your photo is the single real frame; the AI animates the clouds, light, and sky change that the scene implied. It's a cinematic interpretation, not footage you shot.

How long is the clip?

A short cinematic clip — long enough to feel the sky move and the light shift, sized to loop or drop into a post. You can extend it in the full editor.

Do I need to add music?

No. A fitting cinematic instrumental is included automatically. If you'd rather use your own track, open the project in the full editor and swap it.

Can I use it commercially?

The included track is licensed for royalty-free commercial use, including monetised posts and ads. OpenMuse adds no watermark.

Skies and horizons work best
The effect animates the sky and the light, so scenes with visible sky, cloud, or a horizon transform most. A flat close-up with no sky has less to move.

Portraits aren't the use case
This is built for places, not people. A photo of a person won't time-lapse convincingly — reach for one of the other effects for a portrait.

More sky, more drama
The more of the frame that's open sky, the more room clouds and light have to sweep. Wide, uncluttered horizons give the strongest result.

Higher resolution reads sharper
Anything above about 1000px on the long edge gives the AI detail to animate cleanly. Very small or heavily compressed images come out softer.
