Use case

An anniversary video from then and now

Upload an old photo and a recent one of the same person or couple. AI builds a smooth time-passing video between them, scored to a nostalgic instrumental.

Anniversary posts usually pick one photo and stop there. The "then and now" idea is older than social media for a reason — two photos, years apart, say more than either does alone. OpenMuse takes those two stills and animates the time between them: a slow morph, the people in the photo aging into the version you took last week, set to a nostalgic piano or guitar track. It works for wedding anniversaries, milestone birthdays, retirement gifts, and family reunions.

Perfect for

Some moments this fits — there are more.

25th / 50th anniversary

Pair a wedding-day photo with a recent one for a milestone anniversary post or party reel.

Milestone birthday

Baby photo to graduation, or graduation to mid-career — works for any "look how far they've come" beat.

Parents' anniversary gift

A 30-second video from two of their photos makes a stronger gift than a printed card.

Retirement send-off

First-day photo + last-day photo — a quiet way to mark the bookends of a career.

Family reunion intro

Open the reunion slideshow with a "then and now" of each generation.

In-memoriam tribute

A young photo and a later photo of the same person, set to a calm instrumental — appropriate for funerals and memorials.

Tips for the best result

A few small things make a noticeable difference.

  • 1

    A bigger gap reads stronger

Twenty years between the two photos lands harder than two. There's no minimum — but the more time has passed, the more striking the morph.

  • 2

Faces don't need to match the framing

The two photos can differ in pose, lighting, and background. AI focuses on the faces and builds a smooth transition between them.

  • 3

Older photo first reads more natural

The default ordering is older → newer, which the brain processes as time passing forward. You can flip the order in the editor if you want a "looking back" effect.

  • 4

    Solo or couple, not group

Two solo photos of the same person, or two couple photos of the same pair, give the strongest result. Group photos work but the morph spreads across more faces.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload two photos

One older photo and one recent photo of the same person or couple. They don't need to be perfectly framed — AI handles alignment.

  2. 2

    AI builds the transition

A short morph between the two photos is generated, and a nostalgic instrumental track is composed to fit. Both photos appear in full at the start and end.

  3. 3

    Download or extend

Send the finished clip to family, post for the anniversary, or open it in the full editor to add more pairs of photos for a longer montage.
